Uhoh, I hope you get that sorted out. SL Support can be quite a pain sometimes ...
(In case you think you know the answer but it isn't accepted, check for special characters like umlauts or accented characters, as those might be different unter iso-8859-X or utf-8 encodings - I had that problem a while ago)
i simply forgot it, well, i wont say i'm 100% right, because when i joined SL, i thought, ok, i'll look around quickly, maybe for a week or two.
Well reading the post on second stindberg it looks like you didn't get that sorted, not even with a phone call. It all comes down to the same for me every time I hear stories about the so-called "support" the lab delivers - that they are one of the most incompetent company around when it comes to simple basics.
I've had account problems with several sites over the many years I use the internet and could sort all of them out with not too much hassles, but everytime I have some problem where I normally would ask the support for a solution, I try desperately to find a way around that, because I know that they will just plain fail and only annoy me as hell in the process.
there was 3 options in reset password menu, security question, friend names and last amount of money and it was OR trigger, i clicked on friend names, filled 3 names and got redirection to "call us".
well, i'm not wondering, who cares about resident from other side of the world after all.
Last time I forgot a password in SL (a few months ago), I was able to recover it by giving the name of the home sim of my avatar... I then got an email with a new password.
You should also be able to convince the support to send you a message with a new password on the email account associated with your avatar.
tried to open ticket again, got that message:
Your E3 Service Level Agreement does not include the Ticket Feature. Please contact no-reply@secondlife.com for more information
means guests can recover passwords only workdays and work time pst?
Pretty stupid, huh ? But since you don't have your password, you cannot open tickets...
My advice is: create an new account/avatar and open a ticket with it, explaining you lost your password for your main avatar and request a new password to be sent to the main avatar associated email account...
they has same rules for basic accounts and guests
Hmmm... Yes, basic accounts *can* send a ticket... Proceed as follow:
- Log in on secondlife.com with your alternate avatar (or create one).
- Click on the "Support" link at the top of the webpage.
- Click on the "Submit a ticket" button on the right of the support portal page.
- scroll down the knowledge base page and click on the "Click here to submit a ticket." link.
- Choose "Technical issue", "I can't log in", etc... and explain you can't log in with your main avatar and request a password change and emailing.
Et VoilĂ ! :-)
opened support ticket again.
"Details:
unable to reset password via web, keep redirecting to
"call us".
i can provide my card payments to secondlife.com and
my paypal payments to xstreetsl, but i can't answer
security question because i simply forgot answer. "
waiting response ...
and got redirect to call us again.
apparently you were able to solve it in the meantime. congratz ;-)
