Only one minor change, which could help with old viewer freezing problem on Mac. Dances around getCurrentRSS() and VWR-1715
I said "could" because on my hardware it dosent help much with freezes, unfortunately.
Anyhow, rebuilded viewers CV 1.20.17 and CV 1.21.5
Feedback needed!

Hello... found the Cool viewer today when I was forced to upgrade from 1.19.x viewer yesterday.
The 1.20 and 1.21 LL viewers caused frequently freezes and I had to reboot my MacBook Pro 3 times in 30 minutes :(
Unfortunately the 1.21.5 cool viewer ALSO freezes (for example at Pillow Talk) but it gives me back control after 10 secs or so.
The Jira issue that tracks this is VWR-7779.
I am willing to help you solve this problem. I am a professional Java developer, but WAS a Mac developer a couple of years ago. And I get this problem on my MacBook Pro.
yea, 7779 is a thread i watching too, no good feedback from linden guys yet.
that workaround not working anymore, so far as i heard from other folks.
sadly, this latest viewer remains completely unusable for me :-/
i'm using a new 17" macbook pro, 4gb ram, HD screen, nvidia 512mb graphics, on OS X 10.5.5 with all the latest updates.
the best for me is still nicholaz' eye candy ec-f, based on 1.19.1 (4). this also freezes frequently (every 30-120 seconds for 10-30 seconds of freeze) making it very difficult to use SL, but the nicholaz only seems to freeze SL, whereas the official 1.20 viewers, the official 1.21 RC viewers, and also this latest Cool build (i just tried the 1.21.5 rebuild), freeze even more frequently and freeze the entire computer, not only SL (simply force quitting is difficult).
i'm willing to do all i can to help, but i am not a programmer at all. i'm also a concierge member of SL and i have filed tickets on this but LL doesn't see a problem (at their request, i had my ISP come and verify that my connection is flawless; in response, LL closed my ticket).
Honey, rapidshare mega sucks. Don't use this crap. I'm happy to put the Mac version on my blog.

jennyh --- The only viewer in forever that does not freeze on my 15" MBP (otherwise real similar to your 17") is the "Cool Viewer 1.19.1(4)e" that's @ http://radio-boomslang.shacknet.nu/~bb/articles/cool-viewer-mac/ , so if you really need to like work (or something ;) in SL you might try that? [Yes, it still works although it's old.)
OTOH I'm actually doing pretty well with Hyang's 1.21.5 rebuild, so YMMV. Thank you so much for all our effort, Hyang :).

I made a 1.19.0.5 version with some additional anti-freeze fixes as Barney did. Might be the fastest viewer for Mac. Check out my blog.

Thank you, guys for trying it, seems results different, depends of hardware. And, btw, i'm experiencing client hang when trying to make highres snapshot, it was possible on 1.19, but MacOs used to be 10.5.2 that time, but now in almost impossible for me to make it, viewer just hangs. There was more then 2 jira tickets about highres snapshots, as i remember. I'm about to blame apple, actually, because now those snaps not working even in old 1.19.1.4 version, which Barney made awhile ago.
btw, Boy, i'm not sure about rapidshare. Shye used to download pretty fast from there lately.
I can't use rapidshare at all, either I get a message my IP (provider proxy) is downloading something already or I get a session expired notice, regardless with what browser. I know others have similar problems. Rapidshare is a no go for me.
i can never download stuff from rapidshare...any other link please?
