what need to add in Emerald viewer to get voice and stuff working

1) get official viewer from Lab, 1.23.4 or Snowglobe.
2) open application with right click (or ctrl-click if you on apple laptop with one trackpad button) -> show package contents
3) copy SLVoice libalut.dylib libllkdu.dylib libopenal.dylib libortp.dylib libvivoxsdk.dylib files from Contents/Resources folder to same folder in your emerald viewer app
4) enjoy voice and raised video performance.
all those files in non-free pack

P.S. Yeah, i do mac build of emerald now ;)

From my rainbow script patch:

wget -O - http://download-secondlife-com.s3.amazonaws.com/SecondLife-i686-1.21.6.99587.tar.bz2 | tar jvxf - --strip-components 1 SecondLife-i686-1.21.6.99587/bin/SLVoice SecondLife-i686-1.21.6.99587/fonts/MtBdLfRg.ttf SecondLife-i686-1.21.6.99587/fonts/MtBkLfRg.ttf SecondLife-i686-1.21.6.99587/lib/libvivoxsdk.so SecondLife-i686-1.21.6.99587/bin/libllkdu.so

Thats the files from 1.21.6 viewer, for this i think they all are unchanged, but changing the versioon number to what ever Emerald are based on should work.

I tried to do this and am still totally without voice in Emerald. :(

I got the five files mentioned here from Linden's SL 1.23.4 and followed the instructions here and it did not work. I used the SIX files in the Mac Voice folder provided on the Modular systems web site and still no voice with the Emerald viewer. I am on an Intel Mac Pro using 10.5.7.

Hyang Zhao said...

SLVoice libalut.dylib libllkdu.dylib libopenal.dylib libortp.dylib libvivoxsdk.dylib

copy there SLVoice too, Molly

Hyang Zhao said...

I want to thank you Hyang for all that you do to help Mac users in Second Life.

I can't get voice to work. It doesn't let me copy any of the files into the emerald resource folder. please help me figure this out.

Hyang Zhao said...

step by step
1) drag and drop viewer app in applications
2) right click on emerald viewer app
3) open contents
4) open resources
5) copy files there

it will not let you copy files if you trying to copy them on mounted disk image because it read only.

♔ Tess said...

Okay I did all that and nothing. Doesn't it matter if I'm using the Universe Mac Viewer or The intel Mac Viewer? And can you help me again? like idk what to do now :/

Hyang Zhao said...

Gemma, step by step, how you doing it?

♔ Tess said...

Thank you so much!! :D Yay I'm so happy it finally worked for me!! Thank again! You're awesome!

HI, i followed the same instructions as gemma did, but it does not work still 3:

Hyang Zhao said...

Run VoicePatch application from this disk image, be sure program active, it don't have any window, just menu on top
Choose "File > Open ..." from the VoicePatch menu bar
Select the folder that contains "GreenLife Emerald Viewer" and click Open (don't let the greyed-out application icon irritate you, just click "open" and patcher will find it)
And you will see a dialog that says "GreenLife Emerald Viewer is now patched!"

Snickerdoodle said...

it's patched... and i still have no voice

Hyang Zhao said...

how much greenlife viewer app's you have in one folder or maybe you patching one and running other?

Eblison Grun said...

I know this must be getting frustrating... but I'm on a mac and its not working for me either. I'm following all the steps and what I've found is that the voice patch files are not modifiable. What next? I've moved the Greenlife Emerald viewer to applications... even moved the voice patch to applications... and still nothing. Id appreciate some enlightenment. Thanks.

Erica Y. Jones said...

it says not modifiable

Unknown said...

I have done what Ebilson has done. Moved viewer and patch to applications. Have deleted and reinstalled 3 times.

I really like the viewer, but I do need to use voice on occasion and have to use old view to do so. Does my inability to have voice have something to do with a message when I log in that it cannot read my notecard. I have not a clue what notecard it is speaking of.

Another friend and I are having the same problem, voice isn't working. It is there on the bottom of the screen and the button is greyed out. When I open up the menu to choice the people talking and adjust the volume there isn't anyone listed. I have only had Emerald for a couple weeks and I did download the voice package that goes with it. It did work for the first day or two and then the button was greyed out. I have not rewritten and scripts or any of the other ideas listed here because they were several months old and I wasn't sure if they were good. PLEASE somebody tell me how to get voice going again!!! Thanks!

emerald just updated the viewer and apparently can't post the voice patch files...so how do i enable voice? (for the mac intel files). i tried the copy/paste of the above-mentioned files, no dice. /sighs

bluecaz said...

also tried to do this on new update...it is now saying the Resources file cannot be modified so does not allow a paste....

Thank you so much, Hyang!!! I thought I was following directions but missed the SLVoice file! Once I added that it all fell into place! VOICE, finally!!! Thankyouthankyouthankyou!!!

The new 1101 build won't work at all on my PPC Mac. Icon bounces once than vanishes.

Nyctereld Parx said...

yay it works you just need to remember to actually put it in the right folder ^.^

thanks Hyang Zhao :3

Unknown said...

Okay I grabbed *all* the files that you listed and put them into the correct folder in the Emerald viewer contents.
Guess what?! Voice *still* doesn't work! What did I do wrong?!

Unknown said...

Mac OS X Leopard does not seem to even be able to open that file.

Where are we supposed to find those files?

Sean Seaton said...

Once I put all those files in the resources directory, I started up Emerald and still had no voice. So, I went into the prefs and turned voice off and back on and it works perfectly now! Yay!

Anonymous said...

Works like a charm! I downloaded the latest Emerald viewer, followed Hyang's instructions, and BAM! voice is working!

Save yourself some trouble... when you get to the Contents/Resources folder, CMD-click each file that you're supposed to copy (they should all be highlighted at that point), then CTRL-click any one of them for the contextual menu, and choose COPY.

Then, when you get into the Emerald app's Contents/Resources folder, CTRL-click on the Resources folder, and from the contextual menu, choose PASTE. You'll hear the little spring sound when they're done being pasted into the folder.

Open up Emerald, and - it's all good!!!!!!

Hyang you're the man!!!!!

Ty vm Hyang. I have read the instructions and have both SL reg viewer resource folder open as well as the Emerald viewer resource open.

I have found the six files and have "copied" the first one SL VOICE.

I however do not know where to "paste" the file once I have it copied. Is there a specific folder in the Emerald resource folder that I paste the six folders from SL regular viewer into?

Sorry to ask so many questions.....

~Tabbie

Hyang Zhao said...

all those files "SLVoice libalut.dylib libllkdu.dylib libopenal.dylib libortp.dylib libvivoxsdk.dylib" should be inside Contents/Resources folder inside Emerald Viewer.app

Anonymous said...

There is no option to paste when I click on the resource folder for Emerald.

~Tabbie

Hyang Zhao said...

command-v

Anonymous said...

LOL yes I know how to paste - command V

I just dont know which folder in Emerald Resource you add those files. When you open Emerald folder - then open Contents folder - then open Resource, a lot of different files are in the Resource folder.

Sorry to be a pain. Not very computer literate, and this is my first Mac.

~Tabbie

Hyang Zhao said...

just inside resources
